A poet said, “it is easier to die than remember.”
I say nostalgia is a ribbon,
or Jacob Marley’s chains,
and we are bound by the smoke of our past.

Bound to be choked
by the smoke
or the ribbon
bowed at our throat,
chains rattling and
ringing in our ears.
Yes, Ron–this captures the evanescence of memory
A puff of pain
a sting in the eye
So glad to see your words, my friend.
I am trying to be more present here.
I hope to see you around.
And I hope that all is well with you.
