As the day leans in to roll the stones of truth, and
the sun casts a fishy light through low clouds and glowing fog,
I can’t help but wonder if it could have been different.

If the cards are dealt, if there is a dealer,
are we here to simply lay them down as drawn?
It’s why I prefer dice games, the Devil’s bones.

Even if it is an illusion, the dice emit an aura of freedom,
six-sided cubes full of sevens, and the random fate of hot air.
So, shake your bones and blow, it just might be your lucky day.
