Today’s disciples are full of missionary fervor, the private moment
a distraction. Silence is to be feared and filled with inspiration,
incense, incantations against the malevolence of empty space.

Leave the apostles to push their sledge through the valley of their fears.
Catch the last breath, let the moment grow to a point, pause, vanish,
sustain the silence.

We are painters covering the day with impressions,
leaving blank spaces where the invisible inhabits the world.
Brushing up against silence gentle inclines ease our passage into solitude,
the masterpiece of our private life.
