Deep in the Earth, impregnable silence,
darkness consumes my light, my body is a cinder,
I am the ashes of loneliness.
Night ripples with the flitter of moths,
air stretches with the pliancy of bats.
My brain is a jar of fireflies, my heart a beehive.
My hands are feathers of light dropped by the moon.
My feet are the roots of a willow.
Alabaster candles glow in my eyes,
and all my life is an echo.
To the Dawn
The night sky softens to gray,
the horizon glows blue, red, white.
It is the break of day,
end of the long night,
and I am in your sway.
