This relentless rain,
each drop falling singly,
distinct, nameable, yet
still, a piece of the deluge
in suspended syncopation.
Imagine, the beat
of a hummingbird's heart -
a gale of whispers,
the sound of April -
petals spreading,
trees arranging themselves -
a jigsaw landscape,
each piece a single whole,
presenting itself to the mind,
that most persistent of manias,
as if to say, "Pick me."

Love the imagery, spring is here, where I’m at in the world we’re just starting to see all the new growth on plants, more birds singing, and of course the rain that feeds it all. Once again, well done.

I enjoyed your rainy-day jigsaw puzzle, Ronald, the way you evoked the ‘sound of April’ and the alliterative ‘relentless rain’, each drop ‘a piece of the deluge in suspended syncopation’.

Autumn here. Many nameless leaves lie about, are raked up and go to the compost unacknowledged. The world is not fair, I guess.
